There is a word in the ticker on our homepage that most people read straight past: HEMA-free. It is worth stopping at.
What HEMA is
HEMA is short for 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, an ingredient found in many gels and gel polishes. In cosmetics it is known as a contact allergen — a substance, in other words, that can trigger a contact allergy.
Our decision
So we settled the question of materials. The gel and polish we work with come from HeyLove and are HEMA-free. It is the material we want to work with every day — for you, and for ourselves, sitting next to it all day long.
What this does not mean
This is a decision about our materials. It is not a statement about your skin.
We will not tell you what you tolerate and what you do not. Nobody in a nail studio can or may judge that. If you have reacted to nail products before, please speak to a doctor — and tell us at the start of your appointment, before we begin. Then we go through what we use together.
Gel and polish for home
The gel and polish we work with are available for home in our own shop. The shop is not someone else’s platform; it belongs to the same business.
